Thuli Madonsela was just starting at this point. She WAS the thorn in zuma's side. She fucked him up completely. She remains a hero in South Africa.

President Jacob Zuma ’s decision yesterday to fire two ministers and suspend the head of the police is a clear endorsement of Public Protector Thuli Madonsela and the work she has been doing to root out corruption.
She has withstood pressure and threats to her life as she has investigated high-profile politicians. Her exhaustive and detailed reports left Mr Zuma no option but to act against the two ministers she had named.
The dismissals are a boost for her authority after claims that she had no power before she was appointed.
Mr Zuma could not have played it more by the book as he managed his second Cabinet reshuffle since becoming president in 2009.
